Chad

In Chad they were fighting because Chad obtained independence from France. Chad had between two hundred and three hundred children fighting in that war, ages from eight to eleven. I think that is horrible and the children being so young and probably not understanding whats going on shouldn't have been fighting in that war. I learned that young children fight every where no matter what type of war is going on or whats happening or happened in the country. One of the wars in Chad went on for 14 years. I think the war is still going on in Chad.. I think they should just give up and do peace. Fighting so much and so long in a country while having child soldiers is really messed up and messes up the country.

children soldiers...

I feel like children should not be used as soldiers because it's cruel to them their so little and young. Most children aren't strong so it's like torture to them. A Long Way Gone compared to The Hunger Games: In the Hunger Games the children are used to kill people that haven't done anything to them, In A Long Way Gone the children kill people because they killed their family and have destroyed their homes. In The Hunger Games they choose people by having two big glass balls with all the kids eighteen and under names in them. In A Long Way Gone they choose children to be soldiers by if they see a child they take them in and turn them into a soldier. I think the way the men in A Long Way Gone turned children into soldiers is horrible and cruel, getting them addicted to drugs and pumping their adrenalin up.

The Duff

I read Duff by Kody Keplinger. It's about this girl Bianca who ends up falling in love with this boy Wesley. Bianca hates him because he's a man slut and calls her The Duff. (designated ugly fat friend). Bianca has a lot on her plate with her parents getting a divorce and being the "ugly" girl out of her friends. She does something none of her friends would imagine. I loved that this book was so easy for teenagers to relate to. When you start reading this book you get lost in it like it's you're living that life. Teenage girls would like this book more then teenage boys because it reaches out to girls and talks about bad home situations, being in high school and girl drama. It's kind of a long book but you get so into it it doesn't seem like it is.

banned book week

I think this book should be taught in high school english classes because it's teaching us about a different lifestyle. It's teaching us about Indians who live on reservations. It's an autobiography so the language shouldn't matter. Most high school kids are mature enough to be able to handle a conversation about masturbation without having it go overboard. I think there is no reason for this book not to be taught. We use bad language so why shouldn't we be able to read it? It's a fun/funny book so it should be able to be read in classes.

different

I chose different because we've had some classes that are very different and you wouldn't expect to happen. I wouldn't use different in a bad way but then again I wouldn't use it in a good way. It's in between. We have some classes that are different because we have a sub and were bad so we just talk about how bad we were for a sub. When we read Shakespeare we acted it out and most classes wouldn't do that. We have had some different classes that were a lot of fun, like reading Shakespeare. We all get into it and have a laugh or two and be silly. We have our different classes where we don't stop talking and hardly do any work but we learn something from talking. I like our English class because we've been around everybody for so long so when we read stuff like Shakespeare it's not awkward and we can all be different together (:

a time for dancing

I read A time for dancing by Davida Wills Hurwin. The main characters are Samantha "Sam" and Juliana "Jules" It's the summer before their senior year, One of them is diagnosed with cancer. They used to dance together, now they just share some tears. I really liked this book because it's touching and it shows how strong some friendships are, strong enough to make it through huge problems like this. It made me wonder if my friendships would be strong enough to handle something so serious and heartbreaking. I think teenage girls would like this more because it has drama, and it brings a tear to your eye. It's not a very lengthy book but some chapters are harder to read then others so it seems like it's a long book. The chapters aren't funky or anything but the only different thing about this book is it switches perspective between Sam and Jules. Most books are confusing when it switches perspective but it's not because at the top of the page it says Sam or Jules.

death

I was inspired by death because the card looks unique and death is something that everybody experiences. "The light of death stands for transformation, a new beginning, remaining in motion, and far reaching changes. The shadow is the denial of death" This part stands out to me because death is something that happens to everybody, there's no way to ever escape it. Some people view death as a good thing some view it as a bad. In some ways its a way to start over, if you believe in after life. Some people take death as something to be depressed about but some times if somebody passes away its a relief because the person isn't suffering anymore.

little me

If I could go and get a tattoo right now I would get my nieces name and birthday on my shoulder. I’d get the ink in black and pink because those are two of my favorite colors. I want to do this because my niece was born six weeks early and was in a hospital for a while before she was healthy and strong enough to go home. She was also named after me and acts so much like me so it’s just amazing to see a little me walking around and I love it. I love having her around because she’s so smiley, happy and joyful to be around.

Book Reveiw

I read Night by Elie Wiesel. Night was about how Elie and his family got to concentration camps during the holocaust. He gets separated from his mom and sisters but he gets to stay with his dad. The Jews who got sent around to concentration camp got tortured. They left decaying bodies where ever. The Jews were in melancholy moods because they were abandon, in terror, at any second if they mess up even just a little bit they got killed. The Jews couldn't revolt against any of this because they would get killed. The holocaust was a very sick, twisted time. The Germans really sabotaged the Jews. Even though there were more Jews then Germans they were petrified to stand up against them because the Germans had weapons and could kill them all. The Jews were basically prisoners.
I read this book and it really made me think about how happy I am about everything changing and everything being different now from then. I feel bad for the Jews, with everything that happened to them like getting taken away from their families, seeing people die, being starved. It's so sick and cruel to do to somebody. The Geterrmans pretty much exminated the Jews from this world at this time. The Jews got numbers tattooed on them because the Germans didn't really care about their names or anything about them unless they were strong and could work good. Approximately five million Jews survived. Approximately one point five million Jew children got killed. Approximately six million Jews were killed. At one point one million Jews were killed at one concentration camp, Aushwitz.

Soliloquy

Soliloquy - A person's most inner thoughts, they speak them on stage but they're the only ones who can hear it.

"Commends th' ingredience of our poisoned chalice to our own lips. He's here on double trust"

To me this means praise formally the ingredience of our poisoned cup to our own lips. Macbeth is there on double trust. In Macbeth it shows that Macbeth was planning something devious against Duncan and Malcolm like poisoning them. Malcolm and Duncan trust Macbeth but the double trust thing is Malcolm and Duncan trust Macbeth but Macbeth is going to turn around and try to kill them so he can get what he wants and become king.

Dramatic Irony

Macbeth has Dramatic Irony. Dramatic Irony is where the audience knows more about what's happening in the play then the characters. In Act I Malcolm becoming prince is dramatic irony because we know the Macbeth is planning on killing him but he doesn't know. Macbeth and the audience are the only people who know what's going to happen with Duncan and Malcolm.

Imagery

This poem from my point of view is racism. Sounds like she's a slave,
"I am the girl
holding their babies
cooking their meals
sweeping their yards
washing their clothes
Dark and rotting
and wounded, wounded."
She was a young girl slave in the beginning but at the end of the poem she was a grown free woman. When she grew up she got healthier and healed.
Imagery: I can picture her being stuck somewhere, having to do work for everybody else.

along for the ride

I read along for the ride by Sarah Dessen. I thought it was a really good book because some of it was very shocking and some of it was very realistic. Auden decides to spend the summer before she goes off to college with her Dad and Step Mom. She didn't expect to make any friends or expect to fall in love with a guy named Eli. Eli's best friend just passed away and blames himself. Auden's just like her mom so when she's staying at her Dad's she struggles to stop being like her mom. Eli and Auden both come out of their shells as they explore the late night adventures of a small town. I really liked this book because Auden was kind of a daring character. She made this book exciting to read. I could hardly put it down.
